Three stately castles, a national border, and a treacherous murder set the stage for this mystery trail, which takes you from Sargans through the Principality of Liechtenstein to idyllic Werdenberg. Along the way, you’ll encounter not only beautiful views but also plenty of suspects who all seem to have skeletons in their closets.
Through towns, villages, and over hill and dale, “Murder in the Castle” draws you into a story full of intrigue, jealousy, and greed. Piece things together, ask questions, and puzzle it out—but never lose sight of the goal: to unmask the murderer.

Here’s how it works
Getting there and starting out:
Your journey begins with a comfortable train ride to Sargans. Once you arrive, use your personal access code to unlock the Mystery Trail on your smartphone.
Follow the clues along the Mystery Trail:
You’ll start your search for clues at the Sargans train station. Exciting puzzles, hidden clues, and surprising twists await you along the route.
Solve the case and head home relaxed:
If you’ve pieced together all the clues correctly, you’ll succeed in solving the case and convicting the culprit. The Crime Trail ends in Buchs. From there, you’ll take a leisurely train ride back home.
Tip: Along the route, you’ll find numerous cafes and restaurants that are perfect for a short break. Use the time to compare notes, discuss suspects, and develop new theories. If you’d like, you can combine the excursion with a light hike—you’ll receive suggestions at the starting point in Sargans.
