Capanna Scaletta - SAT Lucomagno
2205 m.ü.M.
Historic hut with breathtaking views and hiking trails It was built in 1994/95 and extended in 2007 and stands next to the military barrack of the same name, which was built by a pioneer company during the Second World War (1942). The Capanna Scaletta is the northernmost hut in Ticino and is located on a natural balcony above the Pian Geirett at an altitude of 2205 meters. From here you have an unobstructed view of the Blenio Valley and beyond. Sometimes the view extends as far south as Monte Generoso. The Cima di Camadra and Piz Medel can be seen nearby. The hut is the starting point for many other three-thousand-metre peaks or for less demanding hikes, where hidden places of immense beauty can be discovered.
From June to mid-July, ibexes appear here and there in the vicinity of the hut, enchanting visitors with their majesty and peaceful coexistence. Passing golden eagles, bearded vultures and ravens are not uncommon.
A hub for hiking trails and alpine adventures Numerous hiking trails cross the Capanna Scaletta, the best known being the Greina Pass, which connects Ticino and Graubünden and leads to other important huts, Motterascio, Terri and Medel. Via the Sentiero degli Stambecchi you can reach the Uffiern Pass, the Rhaetian Lake and the Bovarina hut or continue via the Cristallina Pass and the valley of the same name towards the Medel Valley.
