Exhibition: «Voyage Voyage» — open art museum

Duration

People usually spend 1.5 hours here.

Description

Journeys experienced, read about, remembered, imagined, idealised and real: this is what the drawings, paintings and objects in the exhibition Voyage Voyage depict.

Travelling is more than just a change of location: it is the source and driving force behind artistic creation. The works are created whilst travelling, spring from memories of those journeys, or are shaped by the experiences gathered there. At the heart of this collection exhibition are the travel drawings by Brida Lazzarino (1911–1993). She accompanied her husband on business trips and captured the stops along the way in small-format drawings. Rather than depicting well-known landmarks and cityscapes, she shows her personal vantage point: the intimate view from her hotel room out into the world.

Featuring works by François Burland (1958), Hans Hürlimann (1922–2007), Paul Kupschina (1922–2008), Brida Lazzarino (1911–1993), Francis Mayor (1904–1995) and Jakob Rümbeli (1887–1963).
