For more than a century, Monte Verità has been a magnet for encounters and the exchange of ideas. In 2013, this incomparable source of inspiration gave rise to the literary festival Eventi letterari Monte Verità, which deliberately aims to revive the atmosphere of the lively cultural debate of those years through an international and top-class program.
So far, Nobel Prize laureates Svetlana Alexievich, Herta Müller and Orhan Pamuk have taken part, as well as Swiss and international authors such as Alessandro Baricco, Tahar Ben Jelloun, Luciano Canfora, Rachel Cusk, Giuliano da Empoli, Erri De Luca, Carla Del Ponte, Claudia Durastanti, H.M. Enzensberger, David Grossman, Thomas Hürlimann, Fleur Jaeggy, Helena Janeczek, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Yasmina Khadra, Hanif Kureishi, Simone Lappert, Claudio Magris, Mario Martone, Melania Mazzucco, Ian McEwan, Laura Morante, Adolf Muschg, Marion Poshmann, Christoph Ransmayr, Bernhard Schlink, Zeruya Shalev, Merlin Sheldrake and Manuel Vilas.
The thirteenth edition of the Eventi letterari Monte Verità will take place from April 10 to 13, 2025 in Ascona and Locarno under the artistic direction of Stefan Zweifel. He will be assisted by Stefano Knuchel and Giuliana Altamura.
Every year, the festival awards the prize in memory of Enrico Filippini (Locarno 1932 - Rome 1988), which honors people and initiatives that are active in the world of books with courage, creativity and inventiveness.
The full program will be available from mid-March at www.eventiletterari.ch.
