Alpentöne is Switzerland's most important festival of Alpine music. Alpentöne is Switzerland's most important festival of Alpine music. Held every two years, it builds bridges between folklore and avant-garde, between folk music, jazz, and classical music, between yesterday and tomorrow, and between regions and cultures. The 14th edition, from August 14 to 17, 2025, is entitled “Languages and Voices” and is dedicated to the linguistic and musical treasures of remote Alpine valleys. It brings together around 45 ensembles of old and new folk music in Altdorf UR, including many ensembles from Ticino and Uri, but also from French-speaking Switzerland. Four commissioned compositions, countless world premieres, and two scientific-artistic symposia on cultural phenomena in the Alpine region make this event well worth a visit.
