Description
From Gibswil station, the path first follows the road briefly and then goes through a beech forest. After just a few minutes, you reach the Wissengubel: a semicircular rock overhang with a small waterfall and a protected cave hollow. The place is ideal for a break; a fireplace is available.
After a short, steep ascent, the route gently passes over meadows and through forests. Beautiful views of the Glarus and Central Swiss Alps open up repeatedly. Over the Hintersennenberg, you reach the Schufelberger Egg, a rest area with a wide view extending to Lake Pfäffikon.
From Allmen, a short detour into a wild ravine is worthwhile. A steep stairway leads down to the Täuferhöhle, a roughly 40-meter-wide rock chamber that served as a refuge in the 16th century. A small stream flows through the cave, and benches invite you to rest.
After ascending again to the Frauebrünneli crossroads, the path gently descends towards Fischenthal and finally Gibswil. In the Gibswilerstube, you can refresh yourself or finish the hike with a refreshment.
