Description
The Schweiz Mobil Route 33 "Hörnli Bike" leads you from Winterthur to Wildhaus. The first stage ends at the Hulftegg.
The route starts at Winterthur station, you ride through the old town to Mattenbach and follow it to Seen. Now you leave the city behind and ride through the forest and small villages with old, beautifully decorated houses. The climb to Schauenberg begins in Oberschlatt. At the summit, the castle ruin reminds you of the early 13th century and offers a fantastic view over the Tösstal and the Zurich Oberland. After a short break, continue to the Schnurrberg alpine farm. Here you have the opportunity for a strengthening stop, where you watch the cows grazing, listen to the bell sounds and enjoy a heartily prepared menu. The route continues to Turbenthal, past the Neugut swimming pool, then you later climb the Sitzberg. In Schmidrüti, a detour to the restaurant Freihof is worthwhile. In this beautiful half-timbered house, cooking is still done like in grandmother's times on a wood stove from 1885. Later, you ride along the Hörnli with a breathtaking view into the three cantons Zurich, Thurgau and St. Gallen, directly to the stage goal Hulftegg. After the intense route, enjoy a delicious meal at the Gasthaus Hulftegg, overnight accommodations are available here.
25 km are on asphalt, 19 km on natural surfaces.
