Description
There is no climbing required to reach Leiterli; the Lenk–Betelberg cable car takes you quickly and comfortably up to Betelberg, the starting point of the winter hike. The entrance to the winter hiking trail is on the east side of the mountain station building. Here you cross the slope and the Leiterli ski lift and descend into the Haslerberg area. The plateau, swampy in summer, is ideal for cross-country ski trails in winter. From the well-prepared winter hiking trail you can occasionally look over to the trails and admire the delicately gliding cross-country skiers. Walking almost level, you head southwest towards the deeply snow-covered Stübleni. In the Tschätten area, the winter hiking trail then climbs somewhat steeper for a short time and leads up to Steinstoss. Hiking poles are a good companion here. From Steinstoss, enjoy a magnificent view of the snowy winter landscape of the Iffighorn all the way to the distinctive peaks of Wildstrubel and Wildhorn. The descent to the middle station now follows along the southern Leiterli flank. Away from slopes, ski, and sledding pistes, you can peacefully enjoy the wide winter landscape. Only at the recently built reservoir lake in the Agematte area do you encounter piste operations again. From here, the way back to the mountain station and the beautiful sun terrace of the Berghotel Leiterli (10 min) is not far. Those who wish can however choose the winter hiking trail down to the middle station Stoss (50 min). With views of the stately Albristhorn, you gently walk downhill. Just above the tree line at Hubel, the Berghaus Betelberg invites you to a cozy rest. In front of its sun terrace, tobogganers glide boldly downhill, while on the opposite side, skiers elegantly sweep past. The winter hiking trail leads somewhat more leisurely towards the middle station Stoss, our destination for the day.
