Description
At Moutier station, go under the tracks southwards, keep east, go under the railway line towards Solothurn and head for the edge of the forest. A good zigzag path steadily ascends to the small road coming up from Belprahon. Along the way, magnificent panoramic views of Moutier, Graitery, Moron, and the Montagne de Moutier. Particularly impressive is the view down into the narrow Gorges de Moutier, lined with steep rock walls, through which La Birse, the railway, and road traffic squeeze. Below Les Maisonnettes, at point 970, the path branches off. Turning left off the road, it goes across pastures to the upper edge of the forest covering the gorge. The path briefly enters this forest and turns in a sharp bend past the CAS cabin, past the buildings of Raimeux de Grandval, and on to the actual Raimeux summit with its small lookout tower. Then follows a scenic high-altitude hike to Le Petit Pré. There the path turns into the forest. The descent initially is gentle until Le Beucle, then steep down to Corcelles.
