Description

You start the hike at Wetzikon station. From there, follow the industrial trail towards Aathal past various industrial buildings. Along the way, display boards tell about the era of industrialization. In the 19th century, one of the densest chains of spinning mills in Switzerland developed along the Aabach between Pfäffikersee and Lake Greifen. Around Wetzikon, the factory complexes grew together with the surrounding hamlets into an urbanized industrial village. Walk along the Aa further to Aathal station. From here, a detour to the Dinosaur Museum is worthwhile.

From Aathal station, a forest path leads to the Tämbrig, where, in good visibility, Lake Greifen and the Forch come into view. Continue past the over 800-year-old Uster Castle directly into the lively town center. At the church, turn right onto Zentralstrasse, and after a few meters, turn left onto Schulweg. The path continues towards the illuster shopping center, where the illuster hotel is located in the same building. Enjoy a relaxed aperitif on the hotel's rooftop terrace. There you escape the bustling city and enjoy the tranquility above the rooftops.

From the hotel, walk towards the lake, past Zellweger Park with its ponds. Here you can admire the wooden bridge by Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata. The path along the Aabach leads to the Uster Lake pier.
