Weissenberge - Engi

Ride with the Matt-Weissenberge cable car to the sunny plateau of the Sernftal, to the Weissenberge. Shortly after the mountain station, the path leads left. It gently ascends above the Bannwald of Matt on the plateau of the Weissenberge. Formerly, and in part still used today, hay barns with their sun-darkened wood adorn the path towards Ängisboden. Soon, at the highest point, the Altmannberg, the plateau ends. First through light then increasingly dense deciduous forest—mostly beech forest. The path at first descends gently, but the last kilometers down to Engi are challenging, they are very steep. Poles are therefore advantageous.
