Description
A round trip to the lake already sounds like a nice bike ride. It gets even better when several bodies of water are visited. That awaits you on this round route from St.Gallen. You start your excursion in the Abbey District. As you leave the city, you cross the Sitter and thus have water in view for the first time today.
In Bernhardzell, you pass the beautiful Baroque church. It is dedicated to John the Baptist and is also an absolute eye-catcher inside. With the Horbacher pond you reach the quiet spot of this route. The surface of the water reflects the trees and shrubs towering on the shore. In the middle of nature, it is now time to relax. The Horbacher pond is one of several bodies of water here arranged one after the other.
Shortly before St.Gallen, you then touch the Gübsensee – an elongated reservoir – and cross the Sitter once again. You look over to the impressive Sitter viaduct. If you like, you can also shorten the route and catch the train in Bischofszell.
