Description
The starting point of this hike is the historic "garrison town" Walenstadt. Through the linden forest, you reach the Alp Garadur. Above, the geologically interesting Churfirsten stand out. After descending through the forest, the path follows the lakeshore to Quinten. Quinten is also called the Riviera of Eastern Switzerland. Protected by the almost vertical mountains and due to the southern location, it has an exceptionally mild climate. Besides grapes, figs, kiwis, and other southern fruits also grow here. On the boat trip to Murg, you can enjoy the impressive perspective of lake and mountains. From Murg, it goes steadily uphill to Filzbach. Until 1851, access to Filzbach was only possible via a mule track, which the hike partially follows. Afterwards, the road over the Kerenzerberg until the opening of the Walensee road in 1964 was the only connection to Walenstadt. The destination of the hike is Weesen, which entices with its southern flair.
