Description
The starting point for the final stage of the ViaRhenana is the picturesque town of Steckborn on the shores of Untersee opposite the Höri peninsula. It can be easily reached by boat from Hemmenhofen. The silhouette of Steckborn, with the Turmhof as its landmark, is visible on the crossing. The church tower of the Protestant town church offers the most beautiful view of the historic old town and its surroundings. It is freely accessible every Thursday afternoon from mid-April to mid-October.
Arenenberg Castle with the Napoleon Museum is also historically significant. The former Dutch Queen Hortense de Beauharnais lived here with her son, the later French Emperor Napoleon III. The Napoleon Museum and the landscaped park are well worth a visit.
Ermatingen and Gottlieben are beautiful villages on the northern slope of the Seerücken.
We finally reach Kreuzlingen and Constance on Lake Constance along the idyllic Seerhein.
