Via Jacobi (Kreuzlingen - Weinfelden)

The pilgrim trips started at the turn of the century. The pilgrims came from Germany through Constance-Amlikon-Fischingen to Einsiedeln and finally to Rome or Santiago de Compostela to the grave of St. James. Witnesses of these «Gottzfarten» are churches or chapels, sanctified to St. James, former pilgrim guest houses or the shell symbol.

This stage starts in Kreuzlingen, the first Thurgau village along the pilgrim's path from Constance to the direction of Einsiedeln, which is also known as «Schwabenweg». Following the path and passing the well-known pilgrim's chapel Bernrain, built in 1388, after the village exit the way leads to the beautiful Bommer Ponds.

Then it goes from Ellighausen and Lippoldswilen to Weiler Rueberbaum at the western base of the Ottenberg. Those who want to visit the church of St. James in Märstetten walks west from Rueberbaum for about one kilometre to the centre of Märstetten. Alternatively this way leads to the stage finish Weinfelden, offering a wide range of accommodations and restaurants.
