Description

At Ardez station, the route heads north to the main road and follows this in an easterly direction to the edge of the village. Here the route turns left and leads across the field, past the school on the right and in two bends to the turn-off for Chanoua. Even at this point, if you turn around, you can enjoy an impressive view of the castle ruins, over the roofs of Ardez, into the Val Sampuoir and of Sur En on the opposite side of the valley. From here, the path climbs steadily up to the ruins of the Chanoua Sust/Säumerstation, where a short rest with a view up the valley is worthwhile. A few meters further on, looking east, you can see the proud Tarasp Castle and the hamlets on the right bank of the Inn. The route follows the road for about 2 km and then turns right at the lay-by in front of the Hotel Paradies and goes into the forest, past the hotel and the old mill to the hill of Nügla on the south-western edge of the village of Ftan. After passing through Ftan, with its typical village squares and proud Engadin houses, the route continues along a gently sloping path to Scuol, the end of the stage.
