Via Alta Vallemaggia - Stage 8S: Capanna Poncione di Braga-Robièi

The trail from Capanna Poncione di Braga gently climbs over pastures and slabs of stone to Lago della Froda. From there, the path begins to climb more steeply and rocky up to the wide saddle of Bocchetta della Froda. To the left is Poncione di Braga, to the right Mottone. From the pass, the view extends over countless peaks, foremost the Basòdino, the second highest massif of the Ticino Alps and crowned by its glacier, the largest in the canton. In this area, many wild animals such as ibex can be seen. From now on, it is all downhill. Towards Robièi, the trail passes Lago Nero and Lago Bianco. Robièi is a popular hiking destination, as it can be easily reached by cable car from San Carlo.
