Via Alta Vallemaggia- Stage 8N: Capanna Cristallina-Rifugio Maria Luisa

The tour begins with a descent to the shimmering green mountain lake Lago Sfundau and continues to the deep blue Lago dei Cavagnöö amidst a rocky landscape. As you climb, you are rewarded with sweeping views of the Bavona Valley and Vallemaggia. The trail then turns into a small hidden valley that takes you to the Grandinagia Pass. On the back side of the pass, the descend leads through a scree desert to a dazzling white chapel, which in the Middle Ages accommodated pilgrims and traders on their way across the Alps. Continue over the Passo San Giacomo and along a gravel road closed to traffic along Lago Toggia to the Rifugio Maria Luisa.
