Via Alta Vallemaggia - Stage 12: Capanna Grossalp-Cimalmotto

After many days dominated by mineral hues, today is the turn of the flora. You pass from the vast pastures of the Bosco Gurin Valley to the mini-swamps of Chummuheij, from the faded tones of the lichens clinging to their stones to the more intense chromatic shades of heather, rhododendron (the "roses of the Alps") and blueberry shrubs. The path follows the slope towards Passo Quadrella with the peaks of Ritzberg and Badnall above. At the pass there is a splendid view of both valleys - Bosco Gurin Valley and Campo Vallemaggia. To the left of the pass the Kleinhorn can be seen. The Alpe Quadrella is very wide and open with a wonderful panorama of the surrounding mountain ranges. Afterwards, however, the path winds through the forest, which in summer offers pleasant shade. Today's destination is Cimalmotto, a village with architecture half in wood and half in stone, charmingly anarchic.
