Via Alta Vallemaggia - Stage 11: Capanna Piano delle Creste-Capanna Grossalp

For long stretches, the stage from Piano delle Creste to Capanna Grossalp is nothing but an imaginary line, marked only by a few white and blue strokes and some cairns, but without any obvious ground trace or other signs of passage. In fact, the itinerary mainly runs on rocky ground or along vast stretches of boulders and blocks. The feeling is that of crossing a forgotten landscape and at the same time fascinating for its incredible variety of shades, shapes, sizes, surfaces and structures. A suggestive painting all in gneiss, dotted with three magical pairs of small lakes, those of Antabia, della Cròsa and Formazzöö, and skilfully framed by a series of jagged ridges. All in the spirit of peace and silence. Change of scenery after the Bocchetta Formazzöö: you enter the lively Bosco Gurin Valley, covered with green and rich pastures.
