Via Alta Vallemaggia - 4th stage: Capanna Alpe Spluga-Capanna Tomeo

The demanding stage leads from Spluga initially to Pascolo dei Laghi and to Bocchetta del Sasso Bello. Behind the notch we see the Valle Lavizzara, the scene of the next days. The steep descent over loose scree requires caution, especially for larger groups. 

Then follows a large blockfield and the crossing of the spur of the Cima di Broglio with light climbing passages – airy, spectacular, and secured with fixed ropes. After another block slope and some slabs, also secured by ropes, we cross, again thanks to fixed ropes, into the Valle dei Pini. The Passo di Chènt is not far away, behind it hides a complicated descent into Val Tomé. After many hours amidst rocky, torn landscapes, we finally reach a drop-shaped, lovely mountain lake. Just around the corner awaits the Capanna Tomeo, where an unforgettable day ends.
