Description

The start is in Versam on the edge of the Rhine Gorge, which is flanked by up to 350 meter high rugged rock walls. The beginning starts with a short ascent on the outskirts of Versam, before it goes up again a good 100 meters shortly afterward to the Islabord viewing platform. A short look down into the Rhine Gorge is almost obligatory before you run along just under 400 meters of the side road, slightly ascending. Then the forest path leads you into the Lengwald - a pristine heath pine forest that is also a habitat for capercaillie. This forest is unique in the Surselva with regard to flora and fauna. At the so-called Bergli you come for about 200 meters onto the main road and then turn back into the forest. Below Versam you go briefly uphill again at the end to reach Versam again through the larch forest.

This trail can often be done already in spring. It is usually mild and snow-free here early in the year. Between 20.12 and 30.6 there is an absolute path obligation because of the wildlife rest area. However, we also recommend staying on the recommended route at other times. Nature says thank you.
