Description
The route starts at Heiden train station, which is easily accessible from Rorschach via the Rorschach-Heiden mountain railway of the Appenzeller Bahnen. After just a few kilometers, the route passes through the village of Wolfhalden, where you can find not only farm shops with regional delicacies but also idyllic fire pits for the first stop.
A short stop in Walzenhausen is also worthwhile to enjoy the view of Lake Constance before the descent into the St. Gallen Rhine Valley begins. The Rhine Valley, known for its local wine, attracts with bathing spots on the Rhine and inns with regional specialties.
At St. Margrethen, Switzerland is left, and a loop through Austria is taken. Upon reaching Lake Constance, the Swiss border is crossed again, where further highlights and beautiful picnic places await discovery. The route ends at Rorschach train station.
