Description

The hike starts directly at Attiswil train station and first leads to the Freistein of Attiswil – a striking rock with historical background.

From there, it continues on well-maintained paths through open fields and meadows towards Wangen an der Aare. Along the way, wide views and a peaceful rural atmosphere accompany the route.

In Wangen, you reach the Aare, which winds calmly and picturesquely through the landscape. The hiking trail now follows the river course – a particularly pleasant section, ideal for deep breaths, bird watching, or simply enjoying nature.

The destination of the hike is Aarwangen, where the historic castle (newly reopened in 2025!) and the old wooden bridge mark the end of the route.

Conclusion: An easy to moderate hike, ideal for families or relaxed day trips. The route offers a nice mix of panoramic views, nature, and cultural highlights along the Aare.
