Val Mara - Muggio Valley

You continue towards Monte Generoso, along the marked trail starting from the town center. The ascent, on a narrow path, is made easier on hot days by the presence of a shady forest with typical local vegetation.

After about an hour's walk, you reach the peaceful Alpe di Melano oasis, where you can rest, enjoying the splendid view towards Mount San Giorgio.

The route continues to the Bellavista intermediate station of the Monte Generoso railway. Here you can stop at the renovated buffet and enjoy one of the most scenic viewpoints, with a breathtaking view over the Gulf of Lugano and the Alpine chain: from Monte Rosa to the Matterhorn, from the Jungfrau to the Gotthard massif.

From here the trail becomes wider and more comfortable; you will reach the summit at 1704 m above sea level after about 1 hour and 30 minutes of walking.

Continuing, you descend along a steep path towards Alpe Sella. You will cross meadows and pastures until you reach Scudellate in the Upper Muggio Valley.
