Description
Around 30 km of hiking trails connect 50 industrial history sights in the Zurich Oberland. The historic industrial landscape fascinates with factories up to 200 years old, factory ponds, canal systems, factory owners' villas, and workers' houses.
You begin your journey in Niederuster, where the first witnesses of history are already located. Amid historic industrial buildings, the path takes you along the Aabach over Aathal to Wetzikon ZH. You leave the lively center and follow the path along the Pfäffikersee nature reserve and continue through the Kemptner valley to Bäretswil. Here, you make a small loop to the Old Waterwheel Sagi Stockrüti and the Stöckweiher. A highlight is the visit to the Neuthal Museum of Textile and Industrial Culture. Feel free to take a break here, for example, at the Fledermaus fire pit directly next to the museum. Afterwards, follow the path through the forest to the idyllic Bauma, the end station of your hike and the start of the steam railway.
