Description
The post bus takes us through the beautiful Gantrisch Park to the starting point Gurnigel Pass. On a well-laid and maintained path, you walk towards Zollhaus. On the ridge in the partial shade of the forest, there is an impressive view of the Gantrisch area, the Fribourg Alps, and over the Schwarzenburg region. Along the way there are plenty of viewpoint benches and rest areas. From the Schüpfeflue, the highest point of the route, you can already see westwards the new Gäggersteg perfectly embedded in the forest. Soon you reach the shelter past the Süftenenhütte rest area. Now it goes onto the impressive new bridge. Thanks to great commitment by the Gantrisch Park organization and generous sponsors, it was realized. The old bridge had been so badly worn by time that it had to be replaced. For the exciting circuit, you should take enough time and follow the attached plan. The Gäggersteg was created as an information park about the storm of the century Lothar, which swept over the forest in Gägger on December 26, 1999 and largely destroyed it. The new bridge is a walkable sculpture, elevated on stilts, providing an overview of the slow emergence of a new forest with habitats for many plants and animals. The numerous information stations bring the entire chain of events closer to us. Additionally, the game "Der wilde Türst" was created specifically for children. It is educational, offers fun for the little ones, and even a chance to win. For the return trip, we take the easier, shorter path to the Wasserscheidi post bus stop. Satisfied with the many impressions, we head home.
