Description
The tour starts at a bend in the road just below Lumbrein, in the Val da Mulin. The steepest section comes right at the beginning. After that, the ascent becomes gentler, allowing for plenty of route choices. After the usual "jacket stop" at Plaun d'Urdien, you continue steadily gaining elevation.
At 2100 meters, you can cross toward a small alpine hut—often the ascent track passes by it—and take a break. In the final 250 meters of ascent, the terrain remains similarly steep, but the surroundings become more imposing, with one peak after another coming into view. The spacious and flat summit is marked by a cairn.
The descent offers many variations and can follow the ascent route exactly. However, the terrain provides plenty of room for smaller variations. Just south of Plaun d'Urdien, the wildlife protection zone comes close to the route, requiring careful route choice.
