Description
This mountain route passes by the Gastlosen located south of Jaun, at an altitude of 1500 to 1900 meters. On the circular hike around the Gastlosen, hikers can discover the plant world and the unique geological riches of this region and immerse themselves in the special atmosphere and mood of the route. The starting point is the top station of the Musersbergli chairlift. The path towards the Soldier's House first leads above gentle pastures and sparse forests before you reach a landscape of abrupt limestone cliffs, some of which are up to 300 m high. Afterwards, hikers can discover the Stillwasserwald and its extremely varied vegetation. After a stony section at Wolfsort at 1,921 m, you reach the highest point of the hike as you cross from the north to the south side. On the south slope, you have a magnificent view of the Bernese Alps and the Valais 4000-meter peaks. Here you cross green alpine meadows again. Via Alp Grat and the lush Mattenwald, you return to your starting point.
