Description

Like a failed letter G, the route winds through the Bündner Oberland. We start from the Oberalppass initially heading south, then turning left to walk for a while eastwards. Afterwards, we turn left twice more to end westwards in Curaglia.

The Val Medel, where we did not come until recently, has become more accessible due to a well-marked but very narrow and steep path to the Medelser Hütte.

Characteristic for this route is the great variety of nature: eternal snow and glaciers, charming flower meadows, lonely and inhospitable plateaus, forested narrow valleys and gorges, waterfalls and wild streams, small brooks, beautiful small lakes and large reservoirs, typical rock spires and special black rock formations, and high glacier sections. And do not forget the marmots, chamois and ibex! In short, a route with a lot of variety.

The huts are small and often located at the most beautiful spots. They are almost all quite remote. The particularly beautifully situated Capanna Cadlimo, at 2570 meters, is the highest hut on the route.

Peaks are not the main focus on a hut trek. However, it is nice to do a few. The regular program promises two peaks. From Maighelshütte, we will try to climb the Badus (2928 m) on the second day. Later in the route, we will encounter several climbable summits including Piz Coroi (2785 m).

Note: This route has been offered by the NKBV in the past. Due to possible changing conditions, you are always responsible for checking the current route conditions yourself. Inform yourself at the local tourist office or by experts of the respective region to go safely and well prepared.
