Description

Directly at the lighthouse (!) on Oberalppass begins the ascent to Pazolastock. This takes place on an easy-to-walk and well-marked path, which first meets the northwest ridge at the trail junction P.2578. Occasionally along the ridge, but mostly via the west flank, the path leads to the summit of Pazolastock, where a comprehensive view meets us from the Surselva in the east, dominated by the Tödi, and in the west the Urserental with the Bernese Alps towering above it. Directly on the wide back of the south ridge, it goes slightly downhill and then slightly uphill again until the marked hiking trail branches off to the southeast, which leads down to the small Badushütte of the SAC, where a stopover is inviting. At the fork just by the hut, we take the right path and descend to the mountain basin of Alp Tuma and further to the west shore of the wonderfully embedded Tomasee in the mountain landscape (also called Lai da Tuma). On its east side, there are wonderful spots for a break – or even a refreshing swim in warm summer temperatures. We take the path at the northeastern end of the lake, which after a short ascent descends northward until we meet a trail junction at P.2056. Keeping left, we return on a high path above the pass road back to Oberalppass.
