Description

The Piz Umbrail (3,033 m) is located at the transition between the mountain peaks of Val Müstair and the Ortler group. From Umbrail Pass past old fortifications from WWI to a scree slope. From there it goes steeply first, then comfortably to the summit. In clear weather, views of the Bernina group, Silvretta, the Ötztal Alps, and the Ortler massif are possible and thus a must. Then it goes towards Lai da Rims. The turquoise-blue shimmering lake "Lai da Rims"  lies amid untouched nature in Val Mora. Then the path leads around a rock wall and steeply downhill past a waterfall. Through the Val Vau, the hiking trail winds down to the Ofen Pass road and to Sta. Maria.
