Description
Both Tramelan and Cortébert belonged to France from 1797 to 1815; at the Congress of Vienna in 1815, they were assigned to the canton of Bern. Various buildings testify to the economic upswing brought by the watchmaking industry at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. The economic decline in the 1970s is also evident. The route is continuously marked from the start location at Tramelan railway station to the destination Cortébert. Exiting the station area southwards via the pedestrian underpass, you ascend on a residential street and reach a natural road via a parking lot. Then follows an ascent first along fields, then alternately through forest and over meadows, often off-path here. If you have chosen the right time, countless blooming daffodils surprise and transform the pastures of Montagne du Droit into yellow. On the plateau shortly after Bise de Corgémont, a signpost marked Point de Vue points to the unnamed viewpoint. The detour with a view of the Sankt-Imier valley including the villages Cortébert and Courtelary is impressive. To continue the route, return to the Point de Vue – Cortébert junction and begin the descent. A rocky path covered with leaves leads down through the forest and a meadow. Finally, you reach the canton road and the Cortébert railway station at the end of the hike.
