Thusis - Traversinersteg - Viamala Gorge - Zillis

The hike starts at Thusis station. First, it goes past Ehrenfels Castle and Hohen Rätien Castle. From here, the path goes up and down repeatedly and leads along the Viamala Gorge. In places, the path is a little narrow and steep due to rockfalls. Here you must be sure-footed and not afraid of heights. After about 2 hours, you reach the Traversinersteg, a mix of stairs and suspension bridge. A good spot for a short rest. Then it continues to the visitor center of the Viamala Gorge. Those who want to visit the gorge can do so here for CHF 5.00 or simply enjoy a coffee or some snacks at the visitor center. From here, it continues along the Hinterrhein. There are a few steeper climbs, and after another hour, you reach the pretty village of Zillis. From the village center, you then take the bus back to Thusis station.
