Description

At the post office in Münchwilen, the path turns north from the main road Wil – Frauenfeld and follows the left bank of the Murg river. In St. Margarethen you reach the chapel of the same name. The current chapel was built in 1641 on the instructions of the abbot of Fischingen and consecrated in 1642 by the Konstanz bishop Franz Johann von Prassberg in honor of Saint Margaretha. Since then, the place has also borne the name of the chapel's patron saint. The chapel replaced an older one that was demolished at the time and is actively visited by the pilgrims of Saint James.

Further along the path to the north, you will also find the renovated pilgrim's house. Following the pilgrimage path further, you soon enjoy a good view over the Murg valley towards the Hörnli. Via Stocken and Thürn, you reach Affeltrangen along forest and field paths, passing the old pilgrim hostel Flügenegg.
