Description

The starting point is the bus stop / parking lot Stierenhütte near the Gurnigel pass height. Along the snow-covered summer hiking trail, the trail leads counterclockwise through beech and fir forest around the Selibüel. At Gouchheit, the northwestern turning point, the dense forest clears and increasingly resembles a Nordic forest landscape. At the Selibüelhütte signpost, the route branches off to the left and climbs, passing the Selibüel mountain guesthouse, directly to the summit of the Selibüel. Here you will be rewarded with a wonderful 360° panorama. The nearby Pre-Alpine peaks Nünenflue, Gantrisch, Bürgle and Ochse are within reach. This panorama accompanies you on the return journey via Selibüelhütte and Stierenberg to the Stierenhütte parking lot. The signposted snowshoe trail is also accessible from Wasserscheidi and from the Gurnigel Pass height.

Note: The north side of the Selibüel is avalanche-prone. If the avalanche danger for this area is “considerable” to “very high”, do not pass without knowledge, equipment and/or mountain guide. Current information on the avalanche situation can be obtained at www.slf.ch or via the White Risk app. The Selibüel area is also habitat of the black grouse! Therefore, please do not leave the trail and follow the officially signposted route!
