Description
The rural region Bucheggberg delights with idyllic villages, forested hills, lush meadows, and colorful fields. The Bucheggberg loop starts flat along the Aare to the agriculturally shaped Lüsslingen-Nennigkofen. A first ascent leads towards Lüterkofen. Leaving the forest and turning sharply right, you reach Ichertswil in the picturesque Biber valley. Slight ups and downs lead westwards to Schnottwil.
Up and down again: via Biezwil and Lüterswil you arrive at Balm bei Messen in the Limpach valley. In Brittern, the steep ascent to Aetigkofen begins. Between Hessigkofen and Tscheppach, the view of the Jura and the Swiss plateau is magnificent. A last detour leads through the hidden Mühli valley past Buchegg Castle to Küttigkofen. Via Lohn, Biberist, and Zuchwil, mostly on side roads, it goes back to the starting point.
For those who would like to come hiking in the region: the forest hike Bucheggberg is highly recommended.
