Description
From Lüscherz, the path follows the mostly natural lakeshore to the mouth of the Hagneck Canal below the village of the same name. The hydroelectric power plant was built in 1899 and reopened in 2015. Around the power plant, a protected floodplain forest of national significance has been created. The hike continues along the lakeshore to the Mörigebucht. Here, you briefly leave the shore, which is not accessible due to private property, and ascend to Sutz-Lattrigen. At the Von Rütte estate, you return to the lake. The last hour of hiking follows to the Nidau-Büren Canal, which is already located in the urban belt. The dynamic city of Biel is a great contrast to the previous quiet by the lake. Passing the Nidau Castle, which was once a water castle due to the higher lake level, you reach Biel station.
