The mountain inns of Montoz | Les métairies du Montoz

On this hike, you repeatedly encounter the typical mountain inns of the Grand Chasseral, so-called Métairies, with their regional products. Shortly after the village of Tavannes, the path leads into the forest and uphill to the Bergerie Le Grimm. Then it continues over fields. Soon you reach the ridge of Montoz. Time and again, there is a breathtaking view of the Alps, the Chasseral, and Lake Biel. A stop is worthwhile at La Werdtberg or La Métairie. On the crest of Montoz, you feel cut off from the world and can enjoy the wide view and unspoiled nature. The path descends over pastures and continues to Bergerie du Pré la Patte, offering a last opportunity for a break before the descent to Reuchenette-Péry train station. | This hike passes near numerous métairies, typical farm inns of the Grand Chasseral. A perfect chance to taste quality local products. Shortly after crossing the village of Tavannes, the trail enters the forest and leads uphill to Bergerie Le Grimm. It then crosses pastures to reach the crest of Montoz. On this wide, relatively flat trail, the view of the Alps, the Chasseral, and Lake Biel is breathtaking. The restaurant at La Werdtberg and La Métairie de Malleray welcome hikers for a well-deserved break. The clear view and preserved nature of the Montoz ridge give the impression of being cut off from the world. The descent through the pastures leads to La Bergerie du Pré la Patte for a final rest. Then you enter the forest to finally reach Reuchenette-Péry station.
