Description
On the southern side of Monte San Giorgio is Tremona. On the forested hill behind the village, some archaeologists have uncovered an entire medieval village.
The archaeological site is open all year round and can be reached on foot by following the official path from Tremona that goes through the forest to the destination “Archaeological Park”.
A visit to the park can help you understand a lot about how people lived when the medieval village was inhabited, thanks to archaeological excavations carried out annually since 2000, which have brought to light thousands of everyday life artifacts.
A series of educational panels will accompany you in discovering the life of this rural village. They illustrate topics such as: the blacksmith’s work, food, women and their activities, village development, and the houses.
From March to November, you can experience a different kind of visit thanks to augmented reality. Wear special 3D glasses and take a jump into the past! Within the park, there are ten augmented reality stations. The experience lasts about 120 minutes, including transfer times from the Tremona Infopoint to the park and back.
