Description
This half-day trip leads from Solothurn into the hills of the Emmental. Up to Burgäschi, follow the SchweizMobil Route 802: Via Zuchwil, you reach Derendingen, where at the entrance you cross the renatured Emme. By Subingen at the latest, the rural character of the Wasseramt district becomes apparent. The water tower of Etziken is clearly visible above the forest. Shortly after Aeschi, the Burgäschisee with a restaurant, bathing area, and boat rental beckons. At just 21 hectares, it is the largest lake in the canton of Solothurn. At the Steinhof, you reach the first mountain prize of the route. The largest erratic in the Swiss Plateau weighs 3,500 tons and was once left behind by the Rhone glacier.
The route quickly continues over Seeberg and Grasswil to Wynigen. From there, it goes uphill. At the Lueg, the second mountain prize of the route awaits. Shortly before the pass summit, immediately after the folk music restaurant of the same name, you turn right. Pure Emmental. Burgdorf with its striking castle is quickly reached. Up to Kirchberg, you are accompanied by the Emme. From there, you follow the SchweizMobil bike route 34 to Heinrichswil. The tower of Halten with its museum invites you to one last stop. From Biberist to Derendingen, the Emme follows its new riverbed. Back in Solothurn, it is time for an aperitif.
