Description
A highly appreciated route that can be shortened as desired. The route starts in Tenero and runs along the lake to Locarno. Along the way, you pass numerous villas, including the former "Cà di Ferro" barracks from the 16th century, an important historic monument. A little further on you reach Rivapiana, characterized by welcoming gardens and small sandy beaches. You can also admire the church of San Quirico, located in the park of the same name. The lakeside promenade of Muralto is dotted with numerous restaurants. After passing the port of Locarno, you reach the beautiful Jean Arp gardens, which host some of his sculptures. Through the Peace Park, you arrive at the Camellia Park, which houses more than 900 varieties of camellias. The route follows the Maggia river, which is crossed via a pedestrian bridge. The path then winds through the alleys to the picturesque lakeside promenade of Ascona. A staircase finally leads to a panoramic path that takes you to Ronco s./Ascona.
