Description

This hike is located in the highest region of the Basel area. The possibilities offered here are diverse but more suitable for older children. The little ones like to play on the large barbecue area with the giant bench and the climbing hill made of tree trunks. At Waldweid, there is the opportunity to stop at the restaurant and use the small, private playground.

From the Reigoldswil Dorfplatz bus stop, it is 900 m to the valley station of the aerial cableway. The ride in the panoramic gondola is an experience in itself and awakens holiday memories. Upon arrival at Wasserfallen, we first enjoy the view. We quickly recognize the Gempenfluh by its steep rock face. In the background, we see the Vosges and the Black Forest. The yellow signpost shows us the direction to Waldweid. The ascent is quite steep, and we take the opportunity to pause by the grazing llamas. At the large rest area, we find a well-equipped barbecue area with a giant bench and play opportunities. With enough patience, we can see wildlife from the opposite observation stand. A board introduces the Kitz trail. Our path continues to rise gently. At the highest point, we see a barbecue area on the upper left. It belongs to the Kitz trail, as does the 70 m long ropeway we see on the upper right at the forest edge. The view up here is very rewarding. To the east, we see the Bölchen area and to the south, the Alps. At the parking lot, we reach the tree avenue that leads to the mountain restaurant Waldweid. We return on the same path to the mountain station of the Wasserfallen cableway.
