Steg – Schnebelhorn - Steg: “Panoramic circular hike”
Informationen zur Route
Description
The hike starts at Steg train station in the Tösstal valley. The path initially runs flat along the Töss, then you cross and follow the river further through the forest. Soon the path becomes steeper and you follow the signpost towards Strahlegg/Schnebelhorn. At Hinterstrahlegg the path flattens again. Treat yourself to a refreshment at the Berggasthaus Sennhütte before the path climbs significantly again.
Shortly before the summit you reach the Alpwirtschaft Tierhag, where you can take another break. Afterwards a short but steep path leads along a pasture slope to the summit of the Schnebelhorn. At 1,292 m, the Schnebelhorn is the highest peak of the canton of Zurich. Enjoy the fantastic panoramic view of Säntis and the Mythen.
Over the ridge you will pass the Grosseggspitz and the Hirzegg. Below the Rote you now follow the signposts back to Steg and hike back over meadows and through forests to Steg train station. At the end you can cool off at the Steg swimming pool or refresh yourself at the Voland confectionery.
