Description
From Poschiavo, you take the post bus or the Rhaetian Railway back to the Bernina Pass. Those who want to save energy ride uphill to the Bernina Pass in the morning instead of descending to Poschiavo. From the Bernina Pass, you climb on a well-developed singletrail up to Fuorcla Minor and then descend on an equally well-developed singletrail to the Forcola di Livigno.
Then it continues along the valley floor into the broad area of Livigno, staying on the right side of the stream and reaching the town of Livigno mainly via singletrails. In Livigno, a pasta break is on the agenda because the Chaschauna Pass is still ahead. For this, you climb up the Valle di Federia and then ascend on the steep gravel road past the Rifugio Cassana up to the Chaschauna Pass.
The climb is very steep; very fit mountain bikers or those with motor assistance can still ride all the way to the top. For the descent, singletrail fun is on the program: the path down into Val Chaschauna was specially created for mountain bikers and is the perfect finale of the second stage, which ends a little further down at the Varusch park hut.
