Stage 08 Via Glaralpina - Gemsfairen - from the Wanderratte to the glacier flea

The stage to the Claridenhütte SAC leads from the green high valley to the eternal ice – the view of the Tödi from the Gämsfairenjoch is impressive. From Urnerboden (1383 m above sea level), follow the mountain hiking trail up to Fisetenpass (2033 m above sea level), then the alpine hiking trail via Ober Orthalten to Rund Loch (2287 m above sea level) and up to Gämsfairenjoch (2846 m above sea level) continues upward – and if you want to climb the 2971-meter-high Gämsfairenstock, it is not far (45 minutes to the summit). From Gämsfairenjoch the Via Glaralpina leads down to the impressive Clariden firn. Through boulder terrain, depressions, and over a moraine, it goes toward the stage destination, the Claridenhütte SAC (2453 m above sea level).
