Description
Lumbrein is a historic mountain village situated on a forelaid rocky plateau at 1390 meters above sea level. It is the starting point for the frequently hiked snowshoe route to Um Su.
A road bend below Lumbrein, in Val da Mulin, is where the tour starts. The steepest meters are right at the beginning. Afterwards, the tour ascends leisurely and offers plenty of room for route choices. After the usual "jacket break" in Plaun d'Urdien, the ascent continues evenly and steadily, altitude meter after altitude meter. At 2100 meters, you can cross to the small Maiensässhüttli and take a refreshment break. The last 250 meters of elevation remain similarly steep, but the ambiance becomes increasingly impressive. One summit after another comes into view. The generous and flat summit of Um Su is marked with a cairn.
If you do not make it to the summit, you can also turn back earlier. The terrain offers rewarding variants. At an altitude of 2200 meters above sea level, our variant is listed. If you want, you can cross already from about 2000 meters above sea level to the Alp Staviala Vedra and descend on our route from there.
Those who climb to the summit and want to do a circular route take the way back via Sogn Andriu. Please be sure to observe the wildlife protection zone and stay on the route.
