Description
Saanen: Scenic sled run Taking the gondola from the traffic-free chalet village Gstaad you easily go up to the Wispile mountain station. you can hike with the
Snooc sled for about 40 minutes to the start. The easy hike leads over a beautiful panoramic trail along the ridge. As a "reward" there is an impressive view of the Spitzhorn, a subpeak of the Wildhorn.
At Chrinetritt it starts off quickly. The upper part of the track, which is also used by winter hikers, is definitely not for the faint-hearted. The descent starts steep and fast, you really gain speed and have to watch out to catch the tight turns. Rightly, this part of the track is designated for "thrill and adventure sledders". The lower part is a bit less steep. Along various forest sections, the descent, which takes about an hour, winds through mostly open fields.
Down in the valley, at the foot of the Col du Pillon, lies the heritage-protected village of Gsteig. Its church and the nearby Hotel Bären with its traditionally painted facade are among the most frequently photographed typical townscapes of Switzerland. From the end of the sled run it is only a few minutes on foot to Gsteig. From here the post bus drives back to the Wispile valley station.
