Description
The ski tour to the Kleine Lobhorn starts in the peaceful mountain village of Isenfluh, which lies on a sunny terrace above the Lauterbrunnen Valley. From the village center, the route initially leads northwest across open meadows and lightly wooded slopes, past traditional chalets and scattered alpine buildings. The trail climbs steadily through the Saustal valley, which presents itself as a quiet, snow-covered gully in winter. In the middle section, around Alp Suls, the view opens up towards the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and the striking triumvirate of the Bernese High Alps. Here the terrain becomes more open and, away from the classic ski routes, often offers ideal conditions for enjoyable hairpin bends in deep snow.
The ascent continues over hilly terrain until the Lobhörner massif rises steeply. The ski depot is located near the Kleiner Lobhorn - the final ascent to the rocky summit is on foot, depending on the conditions. The view of the Lauterbrunnen and Sulstal valleys, as well as Lake Brienz, is impressive from up here. The descent mostly follows the ascent route and, depending on the snow conditions, offers beautiful deep snow slopes and wide turns past wind-protected hollows and through sparse forest. The sunny south-facing slopes invite you to take short breaks along the way.
