Description

The route connects the architecturally interesting St. Gallen Bridge Trail with the pleasure path Sitterstrandweg. Environmentally friendly, it starts with public transport in the southwest of St. Gallen.

Between Rechen and Burentobel, the Rechensteg, built in 1882 and 66 meters long, spans the Sitter. Because the pedestrian suspension bridge already wobbled noticeably when it was opened, it acquired the popular name Ganggelibrogg (wobble bridge).

On the continuously marked Sitterstrandweg, we then enjoy the floodplain landscape shaped by the naturally meandering river. Several fireplaces along the way and the Restaurant Erlenholz invite you to rest. We leave the riverside path at the Wannenbrugg, a covered wooden bridge 44 m long from 1800. It is a cultural property of national significance in Switzerland, first mentioned in 1692 as an important connection between the cities of Konstanz and St. Gallen.
